The first edition of the ‘Victoires du Tourisme’ tourism awards ceremony – organised by the French travel trade magazine, ‘Le Quotidien du Tourisme’, in partnership with BFM Business – was held on 03 June 2015. Some 250 industry professionals gathered at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand for the announcement of the results of the vote by travel agents to elect the best provider in ten different categories – Airlines, Railway Companies, Car Rental Companies, Cruise Lines, Theme Parks, Tour Operators, Hotel Chains, Travel Assurance-Assistance Companies, Local Authorities and Tourist Offices.
The 10 winners were presented with their Victoires du Tourisme at a gala dinner hosted by the French TV presenter, Stéphane Rotenberg, in the presence of the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, in charge of Tourism, Laurent Fabius. The latter was recently named tourism personality of the year.
Beachcomber Hotels topped the list in the category Hotel Chains. Rémi Sabarros, the Director for France, Belgium & Luxembourg, seized the opportunity to “thank the entire profession and acknowledge the support of the travel agents who contribute every day to the success of the Group. This award recognizes the work carried out by the teams within each of the 10 Beachcomber hotels as well as on the different markets. These teams allow us, on a daily basis, to make our guests’ dreams come true. I also take this opportunity to dedicate this award to two men who have devoted 40 years building this beautiful brand, the pioneer and leader of the hotel industry in Mauritius, the CEO, Herbert Couacaud and the Commercial Director, Robert de Spéville, who will both be retiring at the end of the month.”
And, finally, this award has given Rémi Sabarros the opportunity to welcome the Group’s new leadership team, which will take office on 01 July 2015 with Gilbert Espitalier-Noël as new CEO and François Venin as new Commercial Director.
