Les Salines Hotel

Beachcomber Training Academy

The Beachcomber Training Academy was established in 1996 and is a continuation of a long tradition in the field of training, which dates back to the early 1970s with the contribution of the Group to the setting up of the country’s first hotel school. The Academy is a cornerstone within the Group and a key pillar in providing an engaging and powerful training framework.

This modern and comfortable facility with spacious training rooms is located on the Coastal Road in Trou aux Biches. It is managed by a dedicated team with the aim to grow the talent and skills of the 5,000 employees of the Group by delivering tailor-made training. The different modules have been designed to meet the needs of the hotel operations, management and Head Office teams.

A variety of tailored training programmes are provided to staff members at all levels, from supervisors to apprentices, cooks and waiters. Regular workshops are also conducted on themes such as leadership, capacity-building, training of trainers and coaching.

In addition to upgrading the skills, or even improving the qualifications of staff members, the purpose of the training courses offered by the Academy is to develop their potential and ensure they enjoy practising their craft.

Ecole de Partage

Ecole de Partage (School of Sharing) was launched in 2016 and is a first in the business landscape of Mauritius; it is also an unprecedented initiative by the Group in the field of training. It was launched following the Beachcomber: Au Coeur des Valeurs (Core Values that Drive Beachcomber) exercise, during which 500 staff members from our hotels and other business units took part in workshops and individual interviews to reflect on our values.

Ecole du Partage is a response to their wish for better communication and stronger cohesion between senior and new employees. It is based on an observation: the know-how and soft skills of senior staff members contribute to the strength of the Group and are essential components of its heritage. Transferring this capital is of paramount importance to ensure sustainable growth of the organisation.

As its name suggests, the philosophy of Ecole du Partage is based on sharing. It is a forum for exchange, dialogue and interaction between senior and younger staff members about the organisation, work and values. In addition to the transfer of soft skills, this initiative encourages exchange between generations beyond the context of hotel operations.

The school has a team of twelve facilitators and each session runs over one month. During the training, senior staff share the landmarks in Beachcomber’s history with their younger colleagues. They also talk about the values that have guided the men and women within the Group since 1952, share their experience and discuss together the new Beachcomber, the one that they will be upholding with dedication and passion.

Ecole des Métiers du Bien-Etre

Wellness is a global trend that goes beyond conventional spa treatments. Beachcomber has plans to set up an École des Métiers du Bien-Etre (Wellness Trade School) in partnership with French specialists to provide training to professionals within the Group. The school will also be open to other hotel groups and operators.
