Au cœur de l’archipel des Seychelles, à quelques encablures de Mahé en bateau, se trouve l’île de Sainte Anne. Bordée de somptueuses plages de sable blanc, elle sert d’écrin naturel à Sainte Anne Island, un bijou hôtelier 5 étoiles, appartenant au groupe mauricien Beachcomber.
Les îles des Seychelles sont réputées pour leur nature brute, jalousement préservée. L’île de Sainte Anne et son parc marin uniques en sont l’illustration parfaite.
Protégé depuis mars 1973, le Parc Marin de Sainte Anne fut l’un des premiers parcs marins de la région océan Indien. Il couvre une superficie de plus de 14 km2 et se situe à 5 km environ de Victoria (sur l’île de Mahé), capitale des Seychelles. Le parc marin s’étend autour de six îlots encore sauvages dont l’île de Sainte Anne, l’île Cerf, l’île Ronde, l’île Longue, l’île Moyenne et l’île Cachée.
Des «rangers» patrouillent régulièrement pour assurer la protection du parc : il est interdit d’y pêcher, de ramasser des coquillages ou coraux, conformément au slogan «n’emportez rien que des photos et des souvenirs». Les sports nautiques motorisés tels que le ski nautique sont également interdits dans l’enceinte du parc marin.
Véritable santuaire de la nature, le Parc Marin de Sainte Anne abrite plus de 150 espèces de poissons, près de 100 types de coraux et jusqu’à 17 variétés d’oursins. Selon la saison, on peut y admirer des raies, poissons-clowns, poissons-demoiselles, poissons-trompettes, poissons-Picasso mais aussi des tortues de mer qui s’aventurent sur les plages de Sainte Anne pour y deposer leurs œufs avant de regagner la mer.
Sainte Anne Island propose différentes options gratuites pour permettre à sa clientèle d’explorer les fonds marins.
Des sorties en bateau à fond de verre sont organisées tous les jours au départ de la jetée privée de l’hôtel. Du matériel de plongée en apnée est également mis à la disposition des clients qui peuvent ainsi explorer les fonds marins en toute flexibilité. A la fois ludiques et pratiques, les kayaks transparents offrent une parfaite visibilité et permettent aux amoureux de la nature et de sports en plein air de se dépenser tout en admirant poissons et coraux multicolores à leur rythme.
