Succès sur toute la ligne pour la troisième édition de l’Ultra Trail Raidlight Beachcomber (UTRB), qui s’est tenue le week-end du 9 et 10 juillet derniers, avec un nombre record de participants, des paysages spectaculaires, de l’adrénaline et un beau concentré d’émotions fortes.
Une météo exceptionnelle, dans un site exceptionnel pour une course exceptionnelle ! Cette phrase lâchée à l’issue de l’UTRB 2016 par la marraine, Nathalie Mauclair, résume parfaitement ce trail de toute beauté. ‘Merci à Beachcomber, qui participe au développement de notre sport sur cette belle île de l’océan Indien’, ajoute la championne française de trail, qui a confirmé les attentes en remportant l’épreuve reine, le Trail des 7 couleurs, chez les dames. Elle a réalisé une très belle performance en terminant 5ieme au classement général en 18:32:01.
Cette magnifique traversée de 120 km avec 9000 m de dénivelé est le premier et le seul parcours à être classé en ‘ultra’ à l’île Maurice. Le premier coureur à franchir la ligne d’arrivée sur la plage du Shandrani Resort & Spa est le Mauricien Romain Bayol en 15:49:00. Il succède ainsi à Freddy Thévenin et Christophe Le Saux, champions des éditions 2014 et 2015 respectivement. Le Réunionnais Arnaud Moisan (17:28:26) et le Malgache Mahariniavo Rajoelison (17:40:24) complètent le podium.
La course en relais, grande nouveauté de l’édition 2016, a vu la victoire de l’équipe mauricienne des Moka Rangers (Simon Desvaux de Marigny, Jenny Will Smith, et Bhuvish Lukea) en 13:26:50. En féminin, les Réunionnaise Sophie Blard (19:34:37) et Jocelyne Chellembrun (32:09:01) se partagent les accessits derrière Nathalie Mauclair.
Dans le Trail de la Perruche, le Réunionnais Frédéric Duchemann a réalisé la passe de deux en remportant cette course de 47 km en 4:05:54. Il a devancé le Mauricien Vishal Ittoo (4:13:41) et le Français Pascal Regnerie (4:13:43) dans cette traversée de la région montagneuse du centre de l’île jusqu’aux plages du sud. La Mauricienne Valérie Gérard (Maurice) a terminé en tête chez les dames en 5:50:55. Viennent ensuite la Réunionnaise Agathe Poignet (6:20:26) et une autre Mauricienne, Doryane Schick (6:33:16).
Le Trail du Souffleur, qui a réuni le plus grand nombre de participants, a été remporté par le Mauricien Nicolas Boisseque (0:35:52) chez les hommes face à ses compatriotes Xavier Verny, vainqueur de l’édition 2015, et Janot Fra. Chez les dames, la Mauricienne Christiane Louis s’est adjugé la première place en bouclant les 10 km en 0:43:24, devant la Réunionnaise Alexandra Clain et la Mauricienne Marie Perrier respectivement.
Des parcours uniques, des paysages magnifiques, une brochette cosmopolite de trailers, une organisation 5-étoiles, un accueil exceptionnel, des ravitaillements assurés par les Chefs Exécutifs des hôtels Beachcomber et leurs brigades, un hébergement haut de gamme au Shandrani Resort & Spa… L’UTRB vient asseoir davantage le positionnement de Beachcomber comme organisateur d’évènements nature, sport et découverte.
