Our commitment

At Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, we are dedicated to raising awareness and partnering with NGOs and veterinarians to highlight the challenges faced by homeless animals and advocate for their well-being. In Mauritius, there are approximately 250,000 dogs roaming freely in the streets and on the beaches.

Our initiatives

Implementing animal welfare initiatives in our hotels demonstrate our corporate responsibility and positive impact on society.

Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa

A few years ago, Shandrani Beachcomber successfully initiated a pilot project by hiring a full-time on-site animal carer. This unique approach guarantees daily care for the animals on the hotel grounds, including regular medical check-ups and close monitoring. A dedicated area has been set up to provide food and shelter for the dogs.

Over the past year, more than 40 dogs have found new homes through adoption by hotel guests and staff.

Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa

Both hotels have partnered with an NGO based in the north, specialised in animal management and care for the local stray packs. The hotels assist with the catch-neuter-release process and promote adoptions.

A comprehensive plan is underway to implement effective measures for the welfare of strays.

Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber has recently constructed a shelter at the human resources compound, where dogs are kept overnight to reduce roaming and barking on the hotel premises. After sterilisation, the dogs are temporarily housed for monitoring. The hotel has partnered with a local NGO to host fairs raising awareness about sterilisation and animal registration.

This NGO also feeds and provides medical care for the beach dogs. Several dogs and cats have been happily adopted by hotel guests and now live in new homes across the world.

Paradis Beachcomber & Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Paradis Beachcomber & Dinarobin Beachcomber are primarily cat-only resorts that are provided with food and medical attention. The teams has organised several sterilisation campaigns in partnership with a veterinarian from the region. They encourage adoption with the hotel Artisans and guests.

Mauricia Beachcomber Resort & Spa

Mauricia Beachcomber collaborates with an NGO and veterinarians for the catch-neuter-release programme. The hotel has invested in kennels for temporarily housing dogs post-sterilisation for monitoring before releasing them. Due to limited space, the hotel cannot keep the dogs on its premises.

They encourage adoption and sponsor sterilisation campaigns in the region. Several dogs and cats have been adopted by our Artisans and hotel guests.
