Honey from our gardens

At Beachcomber, our commitment to environmental stewardship takes many forms. One of our proudest initiatives is "Bee Sustainable". Under the expert care of two passionate apiarists, we have established thriving hives in dedicated areas of our hotels. The result? A honey production that is as ethical as it is delicious. Our bees enjoy a variety of endemic and tropical flowers that flourish in our hotel gardens, resulting in honey with a truly local flavour profile.

Our "Bee Sustainable" initiative is just one of 52 commitments made by Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels to promote more eco-conscious tourism and protect our natural resources. It is a win-win approach: we are protecting vital bee populations while offering our guests premium, locally sourced honey that adds a special touch to their dining experiences.

Imagine a honey that captures the essence of Mauritius in every drop. That is exactly what our bees create, drawing nectar from a diverse array of flora – wildflowers, eucalyptus, tamarind, pink pepper, and more. The result is an all-flower honey that is nothing short of a tropical medley in a jar. It brings a subtle yet distinctive note to your breakfast table, pairing beautifully with everything from crêpes and pastries to your morning latte. For the true honey enthusiasts, we will not judge if you sneak a spoonful straight from the jar – we are often tempted ourselves!

But our bees do more than just produce delectable honey. These tireless workers play a crucial role in our ecosystem as pollinators and seed dispersers. By providing them with a safe, nurturing habitat, we are not just ensuring a steady supply of honey – we are actively contributing to the health of our environment. Hidden away in the quieter corners of our hotel grounds, our industrious little friends are hard at work, creating liquid gold using secret recipes known only to them.
