Due to the tropical climate rain is seen frequently in Mauritius, but showers usually fall hard and fast and then blow over just as quickly. January and February are the wettest and most humid months, with the occasional storm passing through.

October to April is Mauritian peak season - it is then that you will find the hottest temperatures and warmest waters. These months also coincide with lots of Mauritian public holidays. November and December are particularly popular because they are the best months in which to find the highest temperatures combined with the least chance of rainfall.

May to September is Mauritian winter and is the time when hotels and other amenities on the island will be cheaper and less crowded. The comparatively cooler temperatures and drop in humidity are benefits of travelling at this time of year. And for those who enjoy wind-driven sports such as kitesurfing or parasailing, the seasonal increase in winds can help to stir things up in the water.
This period is within the northern hemisphere’s main summer months; if you’re booking a family holiday this may be the best time to go to Mauritius, with no need to take the kids out of school.
Mauritius is considered a year-round destination for golf, but if you’re in need of a little more specificity we would say avoid the higher winds of July and August, and the wet months of January to March.
June to November is best, as this is when the rainfall is at its lowest. Even then it can be hard to catch a good wave; they are rare and inconsistent, and should a good swell come in at the weekend it’s bound to be incredibly crowded.

The sparkling water of the Indian Ocean is as warm as a bath for most of the year, so diving in Mauritius is always bound to be pleasant. However the summer season of November to March is considered best for diving, as this is when the waters are at their warmest and most likely to usher in the more interesting marine life.
